Luke 6:5 "And he said to them 'The Son of man is lord of the sabbath.'"

The rules for the Sabbath had been well understood for centuries, yet Jesus and His followers were breaking at least letter of them. Of course, Jesus is justified in doing and allowing this because of who He is, which is what He means in saying "The Son of man is lord of the sabbath." God alone is the true arbiter of what should and should not be done on the Sabbath, or at any other time.

I think about this when I read the Book of Heaven. Some of what Jesus reveals to Luisa seems to grate on my understanding of what we do and why we do it. When He explains that He is beginning something new, and some of the things the Church has done for centuries will take on new meaning, I can get a little uncomfortable. But then He explains, usually multiple times (one reason the volumes are so voluminous!), and it makes sense. I realize the practices and traditions He is discussing are not going away, but are being fulfilled in ways I never expected in this revelation of the Divine Will. Their meaning, even that of the Sabbath itself, becomes more clear, as only Jesus can make it.

The Son of man is the Lord of everything, He alone knows all meaning and purpose! God gives us traditions, practices, sacraments, etc. to lead us to Him, if He says it is time to further explain and/or qualify them, He is the one who knows, and it will be for the greater good.

I think we have to admit to ourselves that we have no (or only the slightest) idea of what's really going on, and that's ok. It really is so exciting to be living in this time! It's a shame the Pharisees didn't realize how exciting it was to be living in theirs. They were talking to the Lord of the Sabbath, and everything! In the Book of Heaven, the Lord of everything is talking to us again, we just have to listen, trust Him, and get ready for what He's doing.
